Leo my aunts 1 year old Lab has been diagnosed with Hip Displacia. Can someone suggest a good diet and exercise for him.

Commercial dog foods are now available for dogs with arthritis. Low impact exercises such as walking on leash on wet sand may help. Physiotherapy before and after the exercise is mandatory. Warming up and cooling down before and after exercise would also help. Hydrotherapy will also help extend the life of the joint. The stronger the leg muscles the slower is the strain and wear and tear of the joint. Chondroitin, glucosamine and MSM supplements may be of value. Depending on the grade of HD pharmacological support may be necessary from time to time. His weight has to be kept on the lower side.
